About Indigenous Women Development Affairs
Indigenous Women Development Affairs (IWDA) is a community-based organization dedicated to empowering indigenous and pastoralist communities in Tanzania, with a particular focus on Longido and Ngorongoro districts. Formed to address the socio-economic, environmental, and gender-based challenges facing these communities, IWDA promotes human rights, gender equality, and environmental sustainability. Grounded in its constitution, IWDA aims to improve quality of life for indigenous people through advocacy for land rights, digital literacy programs, vocational training, and economic empowerment initiatives. By integrating traditional knowledge with modern resources, IWDA supports women, youth, and marginalized groups in achieving sustainable self-reliance and resilience within their communities.
This foundation is evident in IWDA’s core values of justice, fairness, accountability, and community solidarity. Through its diverse programs, IWDA strives to equip indigenous communities with the tools and knowledge to overcome social, economic, and environmental challenges while preserving their cultural heritage.

The Code of Conduct at IWDA addresses critical risks such as corruption, fraud, violence, and discrimination, issues that directly undermine justice, equality, and sustainable development in Indigenous communities. These challenges are often at the root of marginalization, poverty, and exclusion.
Any failure to uphold this Code contradicts the core values and mission of IWDA. We therefore treat all violations with the utmost seriousness. IWDA is committed to preventing misconduct wherever possible and to ensuring that any concerns are promptly reported, thoroughly investigated, and effectively addressed.
By upholding these standards, we strengthen trust, accountability, and integrity in our work. This enables us to remain true to our mission: supporting Indigenous women and communities to lead self-determined, dignified, and resilient lives.
